Hanover, Germany

Marcell & Dawn

I am writing this while watching the sun go down over the German countryside in a train on my way to Hanover to visit some great German buds from college, Markus and Marcell, and take part in Irka’s, Marcell’s woman, birthday extravaganza. I had not planned on going because I recently returned from UAE and work is still crazy busy leaving me somewhat drained and not my best self. In addition, I have a ton of travel coming up over the next few months and thought a relaxing weekend rearranging my sock drawer sounded nice. But when Marcell called me again last week asking me to come I thought I should make every effort for a few reasons.

First, Irka’s birthday. How often do you get the opportunity to spend someone’s special day with them? And Irka is a doll, exuding nothing but the most lovely energy all the time. Next, they have a charming little munchkin, Lily, and she has the sweetest disposition and cutest smile making it impossible not to love watching her for hours on end.

Additionally, I wanted to hang out with good friends. Marcell, Markus and I were like the Three Musketeers in Texas, and every time we were together it turned into some sort of crazy adventure. Now, we don’t often get the chance to all hang out, so this seemed like an excellent opportunity to regroup.

And last, I have recently felt that I’ve had every ounce of creative energy sucked out of me. This is a result of recently changing jobs and current workload and my not feeling inspired to complete any artistic projects.

For anyone who knows Marcell, you know he oozes creativity. Every small thing he does is like watching life imitate art. With Marcell’s exuberance added in, something as simple as making breakfast or looking at changing leaves becomes an act of spiritual enlightenment. And I expect this weekend will include some enjoyable activities and experiences that might motivate me into action.

And if not, it will no doubt be a reminder to always see the beauty in my surroundings. Plus I’ll also get some time to catch up with great friends, creating new memories to stash away for a later date. Who could ask for a better way to spend a weekend?

Dearest Dawn,

I am deeply touched by the beautiful and loving words you wrote on your blog, not just in the Hanover blog but all entries are wonderful. I haven´t heard someone express such nice words about me, Irka and Lily for a very long time. You know that gratitude is the best way to create abundance in your life. I also like to express gratitude to the universe, often when I am on my balcony looking at the stars at night.

Irka and I agreed that this b-day party was a very special celebration. We are very thankful about your presence. The energy that immediately takes place when Markus, you and I come together is best described as heaven. Isn´t it that we forget about all “issues” immediately for the time when we look in each others eyes, hug each other, appreciate life together, dance or just talk? I tell you that I am so grateful to have you, Irka, Markus and a few others in my life I get to experience that feeling of heaven on earth with. So, not only you are lucky but also me.

Wishing you all the best!

Marcell
